ABOUT THE HIDESAll Springbok and Nguni (African word for cow) hides used in our bags are obtained as a by-product of meat production. All hides and skins are offered to our suppliers by a closely monitored and GOVERNMENT APPROVED humane herd reduction scheme which protects certain native species from over breeding and endangerment. Springbok are prolific breeders and over population endangers their habitat through over grazing, their ongoing survival and that of other wild animals. These hides are only obtained from internationally recognized suppliers who adhere to strict controls and timeframes for the culling season (African Winter only). As with cow leather, both Springbok and Nguni are used primarily for their meat and by utilising the hides, jobs are created for underprivaledged workers and their communities.
ABOUT THE LEATHER - An eco-friendly option. Many of our range use Veg tan leather to achieve wonderful coloured trims and bags. The leather used in the manufacture of our exotic range was inspired by a need to create striking yet funtional handbags. The leather used in this collection is not only ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY but ages beautifully with wear.
The leather is tanned with the natural extracts from the bark of Wattle and Mimosa trees, using 100% natural translucent dyes to achieve it unique finish. The result is cheerful, lively colours with fruit as a central theme.
